12 Days of Steel-mas
12.14.2018
The holidays are almost here, which means holiday shopping is in full swing! Still not sure what to get your family and friends? How about a gift made of steel! It may surprise you that steel is found in so many items that we use every day – from picture frames and golf clubs, to vacuum cleaners and snowmobiles.
Inspired by the classic song, “The 12 Days of Christmas,” ArcelorMittal is pleased to debut the final verse of the “The 12 Days of Steel-mas” which reveals just some of the great gifts of steel that will be given this holiday season.
On the twelfth day of Steel-mas, I gave the gift of steel to thee...
12 place settings
11 cans of shaving cream
10 bottles of champagne
9 picture frames
8 golf clubs
7 pots and pans
6 microwaves
5 guitar strings
4 vacuum cleaners
3 lawn mowers
2 snowmobiles
And a car made with high strength steel

Here is some more detail on how steel is used in some of these holiday gift ideas:
Place settings: Silverware is often made of steel. That means the fork you use at dinner could have molecules of steel from the first Model T on the road, thanks to steel’s infinite recyclability.
Champagne: ArcelorMittal’s WireSolutions division is a major supplier to vineyards throughout the world. More than 1,000 tons of steel wire are used annually by champagne producers in the town of Commercy in northeast France to make the wire caps that keep champagne corks in place.
Pots and pans: Steel cookware is very popular, as it is durable, dishwasher-safe and affordable. It is also nonreactive, meaning you can cook any type of food in it. Not to mention, it looks nice!
Golf clubs: In addition to being used in the shafts of many clubs, steel is also used in forged irons. Forged irons are typically made from a single piece of steel that is heated and molded into shape. Also referred to as blades, these irons are used by many of the pros who enjoy greater accuracy due to more weight being maintained in the center of the club head.
Guitar strings: If you’re playing a rock, pop or country song, steel strings are the perfect choice for your acoustic guitar and the sound you’re going for.
Cars: Advanced high strength steels provide the ductility and strength that automakers need to create sustainable mobility solutions that minimize emissions across the vehicle’s entire lifecycle.
Happy Holidays to everyone, and remember, when you’re looking for the perfect gift, think steel!
